Want to see The Wrathskellar for free? Want to be part of a new and unique theatrical experience?

We need box office volunteers for The Wrathskellar from October 26 through October 31 at The Cambridge YMCA Theater (820 Mass. Ave., Cambridge at Central Sq.). We especially need volunteers for Friday, October 29, Saturday, October 30, and Sunday, October 31. Spend Halloween with The Boston Babydolls! We do not need volunteers on Wednesday, October 27.

You need to be at the theater before 7 p.m. and sit in the box office booth from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., then you can watch the show. You need to be able to do simple math, handle money, and be pretty good with people.

The Hunt Begins! Friday 10/1

The Wrathskellar is the new dark cabaret from The Boston Babydolls and the denizens of that dank tavern will be at  Mariposa Bakery tomorrow night — Friday, October 1 from 7pm to 9pm.

From October 1 through October 31, The Wrathskellar is holding a scavenger hunt throughout Central Square. Collect ephemera from The Wrathskellar universe, follow the clues into the darkness, possibly win a prize. The world of The Wrathskellar is a shadowy maze of riddles and half-truths. Unravel the mysteries and save yourself... some money on tickets.

Your first stop is Mariposa Bakery (424 Mass. Ave., Cambridge). You can stop there any time during the month to collect the first puzzle, but stop in on Friday night, October 1 from 7pm to 9pm and and sample some delicious food and drink along with members of our cast.

Once you've collected your first puzzle and followed it to the next stop, you'll be given another puzzle to solve... solve all the puzzles and you're given a key. Every key reaps a reward — a discount on admission to this remarkable Halloween experience — but some small number of keys will open The Chest at The Theater. What's inside The Chest? No one knows... but if your key unlocks the padlock, the contents are yours (whether you want them or not).

Good hunting... and Happy Halloween.

Presentation: Insect pests of New England

Insect pests of New England

On Wednesday, June 9th, the Somerville Garden Club will sponsor a short course by horticulturalist Debra Elson, on the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) and other pests. The meeting is 7-9pm, 167 Holland St., second floor. The public is invited; the space is accessible.

The Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) has a well-deserved reputation for being an aggressive, voracious pest. A video, "Lurking in the Trees," about the ALB crisis in Worcester, MA, will be shown. Elson will address the importance of vigilance about this beetle, as well as steps for containing the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Winter Moth, Eastern Tent Caterpillar, and Gypsy Moth Caterpillar.

Elson is a horticulturalist with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). She attended Green School, a comprehensive certificate program offered by UMass Amherst, and has done extensive research on insect pests of New England Forests. She has worked in nurseries and as a designer, and belongs to the Lexington Field and Garden Club and the Beth Shalom Garden Club.

Somerville Garden Club meetings begin with announcements and a roundtable of garden questions, feature an educational program, and conclude with a raffle of garden items and plants. The meetings are at 167 Holland St., 2nd floor, 7-9pm and are free & open to the public.

Auditioning Burlesquers, dancers, and variety acts for a NEW Boston Babydolls show

The Boston Babydolls are holding auditions for our next show on Sunday, March 14 starting at 2:00 p.m. and Monday, March 15 starting at 7:00 p.m.

We are auditioning burlesque dancers, back-up dancers, and variety performers for "French Kiss", a show at The American Repertory Theater's OBERON, outside of Harvard Square (where The Donkey Show is currently playing). The show will take place in the end of April.

We expect a short, intense, rehearsal cycle beginning in late March/early April. During the month of April we will have 2-3 rehearsals each week, typically Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. Dancers who are cast in this show will also have the inside track on future and on-going shows

Auditions are at B.A.B.E., 119 Braintree St., Suite #208, Allston, MA 02134. Directions are on-line at http://www.119bsr.com/location/directions.php There is plenty of free, off-street parking and the building is about a 10 minute walk from the Harvard Avenue stop on the 'B' green line. Please arrive promptly. We expect the audition will last about two hours depending on how many participants we have.

There's more information you need if you intend to audition. Please drop us a note telling us you'll be at the auditions; don't just show up!
